Thank you for using QR Code Generator Extension (the “Extension”). This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information in compliance with Chrome Web Store policies and data protection regulations.
1. Information Collection
No Data Collection – Privacy First
We collect absolutely no personal data. The Extension operates entirely locally on your device and:
- Does not access, store, or transmit personal information (emails, browsing history, IP addresses, etc.)
- Does not require registration or account creation
- Does not use analytics, tracking, or cookies
2. Data Storage
All user preferences are stored exclusively on your device:
- QR code generation history and saved codes are stored in Chrome’s local storage (
chrome.storage.local) - Theme preferences (dark/light mode) and display settings remain on your computer
- No data is ever transmitted to external servers
3. Permissions
The Extension requires only these Chrome permissions:
- storage – To save your QR code history and settings locally
- activeTab – To generate QR codes from current page content when requested
No sensitive permissions (e.g., bookmarks, history, network access) are requested or used.
4. Third-Party Services
QR Code Generator Extension:
- Contains no advertising or third-party trackers
- Does not integrate with external APIs or services
- QR code generation is performed entirely locally using built-in algorithms
- Generated QR codes never leave your device unless you explicitly save or share them
5. Children’s Privacy
The Extension does not collect personal data and is safe for all ages. Users under 13 may install it without parental consent under COPPA guidelines.
6. Data Security
Since no data leaves your device:
- Your information is protected by Chrome’s built-in sandboxing
- We implement no servers or databases that could be compromised
- You maintain full control over your QR code history and settings
- All QR code generation happens locally on your machine
7. Policy Changes
Updates to this policy will be:
- Posted on the Chrome Web Store listing page
- Dated with a new “Last Updated” header
- Non-retroactive (changes apply only to future versions)
